The Konso people of Ethiopia carved simple, elongated figures as part of sculptural groupings honoring the memory of prominent men. The groupings may have consisted of representations of the deceased, his spouse, deafeated enemies and even animals he killed. This female figure features a tall flat coiffure, small breasts and braclets on the arms.
